Here are two types of trips that we had a lot of interest in, so I’m making it official. Marathon trips speak for themselves—they’re a couple of hours longer than a normal trip. On these days, we'll leave early and return late. This gives us a couple of extra hours of fishing and allows us to fish spots that we may not fish on a regular trip. Additionally, a marathon trip is a great way, especially in the summer, to maximize your time on the water.
Combination trips get everyone here excited. There is plenty of time to fish the morning for one species, then head out and try something else.
Our most popular trip is late summer-fall and is our Tuna/Cod trip. We leave just before sunrise, so that there is enough light to motor at a good speed to the fishing grounds We get to the grounds just after sunrise and fish for tuna until about 10:00, then leave and fish for cod for the rest of the day.
Instead of cod fishing, we fishing for stripers and bluefish is another great option. This is our other combination trip: The tuna/striper/bluefish trip. When fishing on Stellwagen Bank for tuna, we often run into huge schools of bluefish. When tuna is our quarry, we look at bluefish as a nuisance--they tear up our expensive tuna lures and keep us from fishing for tuna. But...we often switch gears and bring out the spinning tackle to make great sport of the blues in the area. It's a great gamefish and what a fight. Many people do keep the blues to eat, as it is common to smoke the fish. If the customers don't want to eat the bluefish, they make the best chum for sharks as well as bait for tuna.
With the extra time on a marathon trip or the added bonus of a variety of targeted fish and fishing styles of the combination trip, these trips offer the most! If you love fishing, but can only do it one time per year, do it all in one trip!
